Having seen this asked about five times already, perhaps a HHAD specific, plus general terminology reference page should be placed somewhere so that newbies and the Internet uninitiated can reference it rather than post.
http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=38440#38440
A thread could be started where regular poster could add any new terms that they had come across. _________________

I agree, Guess. It would be a really good idea - everything from BTW to WTF! _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham, philosopher, 1748-1832

NFI is ambiguous BTW.
ie "why weren't you at the opening of JW's?"
"NFI mate, I was NFI-ed".
LOL. _________________ ดวงขึ้น

Bumping this, as I still think it would be a great idea. Had a pm just this morning from a new member, wanting me to explain an abbreviation. Not a problem, I'm happy to help, but a page where the commonly used abbreviations & acronyms were listed & members could add more, as they came across them would be useful for everyone IMHO. _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? IMRAO (In my rather arrogant opinion) it would not be difficult for those posting on this - and any other - forum to explain any abbreviations that they use.
When I was working for the U.N. (United Nations) no one was permitted to use an abbreviation that had not already been defined.
English is the language of Milton, Chaucer, Shakespeare, Dickens, Wordsworth, and David Beckham. So let's try to keep it beautiful and keep it comprehensible. |

It is easy to understand George Bush being omitted from your list (for being totally incomprehensible), but not Winston Churchill who was both a great writer and an incomparable orator.
Back on Geek Speak, iIf you are having problems with the ever increasing usage of initials or acronyms (going beyond HHAD Geek Speak) there are a number of sites on the internet that can help:
1. Acronym Finder: http://www.acronymfinder.com/
2. TheFreeDictionary: http://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/
If you are suffering from insomnia, Wikipedia also has a section on “Acronym and initialism” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acronym |

IMHO, b4 we dgenr8 n2 txt spk lk yr SMSing frnds, can't we all just take a few seconds more and preserve the sanctity and proper form of the language in your posts?
It makes reading so much easier, and you don't have to struggle with different meanings for the same (or similar) abbreviations on different bb's (bulletin boards).
I've found that if you wish to abbreviate something that's going to be used often in a post, define it once, then use the abbreviation. That way, there won't be any confusion across different bb's.
I would almost go as far as to define it as ettiquette, but having said that, a glossary pointing out the common terms used on the board would be most welcome.
