A very important question that might be answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it, so here goes.
Can anyone suggest a good company/ broker(s) to put in place a suitable health insurance policy.
Any other comments would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

To put things into perspective, I've just been discharged from San Paulo hospital after a 10 day stay following a traffic accident. No broken bones, but a severe wound in the leg.
Total cost 80,000 Baht.
I'm not insured. Fortunately, the Thai driver who caused the accident was and he paid.
I'll be getting insurance after this!! |

Welcome to the board Sopaporn,
This is just a gentle reminder of the forum rules.
We do not allow self promotion, unless in the form of paid for advertising.
Assuming you're Thai, your views and comments will be appreciated as they will put another perspective on matters.
However, please don't advertise your business, unless you do so through the "proper channels".
I'll let your post run for now and leave the final decision to admin. |

Sopaporn,
After noticing that you have pm'ed me regarding my accident and offering your services, I've deleted your post.
Again, your comments on this board are welcome.
Just don't invade our privacy.
Thankyou. |

Hello everyone,
maybe some people, especially the moderator don't want to hear, maybe because the Observer is a big sponsor on this website i would like to recommend everyone who has questions about insurances in Thailand to call [ content edited by Admin ].
I had only good experiences with her and she takes good care of her customers.
Greetings

German41, I have edited your post.
Firstly the Observer is a magazine and not an insurance company so I really don't know where your comment comes from.
Secondly the Observer DOES NOT sponsor this website, we simply have a reciprocal banner agreement.
Thirdly the Moderator had every right to remove the other post if he felt it was a blatant plug. Since he was personally contacted by the poster (sopaporn) offering their services after his accident we can only assume that the sole intentions were ones of self promotion. We do not allow this on the message board.
Anyone wishing to ADVERTISE their services is welcome to see our Media Kit or contact us via email: webmaster@huahinafterdark.com
Feel free to PM your recommendation to the original poster should they still be interested six months after their original post. _________________ Sponsor HHAD | Hua Hin Hotel Bookings | Hua Hin Property |

So far so good
Now i have to tell you something you should know when you are living in Hua Hin:
Yes, the Observer runs a magazine, yes but the trueth is that there is an OBSERVER GROUP.
This group runs a business center in Hua Hin, offering anything possible you can make money with. I am sure they have specialists for insurances but only for insurances where they earn the best comission.
you wrote in the forum:
Firstly the Observer is a magazine and not an insurance company so I really don't know where your comment comes from.
ok so far so good.
I saw a PM from Luanmart to Khun So in which he said, i just copy this text now:
You'll note that companies such as The Observer support this site. Without them it could not survive.
Could you please tell me the difference between "supporting" and "sponsoring"?
Maybe "sponsoring" was the wrong word but if i would have said "supporting", would it sounds better?
Ok, let's get to the point that really makes me angry about this is simply:
Who "supports" can do, who does not "support" can not do in this forum.
I have to say that i still "support" Khun So considering insurances in Thailand, because she does not need to "support" or "sponsor" a forum, she only wanted to give qualified information for people who had questions about this topic.
By the side!!!!!!!!!!!
Careful Mr Colin of the Observer Group:
No foreigner is allowed to underwrite insurances in Thailand!
Greetings to everyone

The truth of the matter is we have had a number of new members whose sole interest is to promote their own business. There is a thin line on the board of what we will allow and what is considered plugging.
It is pretty obvious to me that when a new member seeks out all of the relevant posts he/she can just to reply with their own plugs for which ever businesses they run that this is their primary intention.
When a long standing member makes a recommendation (especially when they are known to us personally) and are not affiliated with any business we let it ride.
Yes we have an agreement with the Observer website, they display our banners and we display theirs that is as far as it goes. The Moderator may not have had the full details of this very simple relationship.
I have reason to believe that you and K. So maybe the same person since you both have exactly the same IP address. It would also explain why you can quote from their Private Message Inbox.
The answer is simple, if you wish to promote your business please advertise, we have bills to pay too. _________________ Sponsor HHAD | Hua Hin Hotel Bookings | Hua Hin Property |

German41,
To reiterate Lev's points, there's nothing wrong with either yourself or your friend Sopaporn giving general advice about insurance on this site. Most people here are looking for information.
However, when no general info is given in the posts, only a link to a private telephone number, then a more blatant attempt at self promotion through the back door, I can't think of.
I was will ing to let the initial posts ride until Admin made a decision, but was not best pleased about being contacted about insurance via pm. The posts were deleted then.
As a representative of said insurance company, i have doubts that any advice given would be of a general nature. That's understandable. business is business. However, to generate leads like that, any company or individual would expect to advertise.
Why dosn't Sopaporn? I'm sure you'd find that any queries of this nature would be provided with a link to the relevent web address. You need to discuss that with Admin. |

I would have thought it important for members to have confidence that the site isn't being expolited for personal gain by companies or sales reps, whoever....
When seeking advice its important to know its from another member based on their personal experiences rather than a "plant".
I took part on the thread re: good estate agents that was then besieged by plugs for the said estate agent before the thread was closed. At 1st I felt pleased to find such a highly recommended Company, now I'm suspicious as to why they went to such lengths to plug their service in this way if they are so good in the 1st place?
I'm with the moderators on this one. The integrity of the site is too important to leave it open to potential abuse. |

Hi All,
Couldn't agree more. We all want impartial advice based on experience. Nothing wrong with promotions/ ads if we know about it. Difficult to separate, but I hope the moderators keep on top of it. Who's watching the moderators? ( Don't take too seriously, as this could be endless!!!)
