There is a stall there that sells bugs of various sizes, I can only assume that they are for eating. Has anyone tried them or even seen anyone try them. I have been a number of times and have not seen anyone try them. I think you would have to be very hungry/drunk to give them a try.

I've tried most of them but that was years ago. I don't think they taste much of anything, like the grasshoppers just have an oily taste. _________________ 知彼知己, 胜乃不殆; 知天知地, 胜乃可全

I was sober when I ate hoppers and silk worms but I needed a lot of alcohol before I was able to try the big bugs (water beetles.) _________________ 知彼知己, 胜乃不殆; 知天知地, 胜乃可全

One time when I was up in the villiage in Buriram I was working my way through a plate of Beetles, to keep the locals happy. This old guy came over and I offered him the plate, he ate a couple of them and said
" ah, very good,............ from buffalo shit "
which put a different aspect to the taste!
Actually most of the smaller bugs taste Ok when they're fried up, not so keen on the bigger ones. Had curried ants eggs once, and those big red ants in soup like croutens. |

Silk worms taste like peanuts, quite nice really. Originally all bug type things were eaten by poor farmers as a cheap source of protein. _________________ Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly!
