KelpieKiss,
The way I did it (using a Windows PC) was when Google Earth was displaying the photo I wanted, I hit Alt & Print Screen at the same time.
I then opened Paint from within Accessories and did a Ctrl & V. This put the Google Earth picture on to Paint. I then edited the picture (taking all of the dross off, just leaving the aerial view) and saved the picture on my PC as a JPEG image.
It was then simply adding the picture to HHAD as I would any other photo. If you need instructions on that bit, please ask again. _________________ Green Army position 5=

As Johnyk says, I think the quality goes up and down. The previous photo of my house was so clear I could see the garden table! My old Alfa was also there. The newer version, minus the table and a change of car is less focused.
Paradoxically, the wifes village approx. 120k NE from Korat is now Crystal clear. But move one field to the left and the focus goes completely.
I wonder how "new" the Hua Hin images are? In May 2006 the place I was staying at had a building site very close to the left. The image shows only shrubbary. I hope no-one uses it as an up to date guide? |

| I would imagine that most of the work to keep the pics updated is automated rather than having people poring over the images to see if they are better or different, which might explain some of this. They are also dependent on atmospheric conditions so a previously clear but out of date picture gets replaced by a less clear but more accurate one. Just my guess though. |

Maybe if KelpieKiss can manage to upload what he (or she) is seeing, we will know if there is more than one version. We can then go in search of something better (if its out there). _________________ Green Army position 5=

| BB. I've saved it as a jpeg. How do I insert it into the message on HHAD? |

Click Post Reply.
On the screen that you normally post on, under URL It should say UploadPic - click that.
Click Browse, and locate the picture on your PC and click send.
Your picture will be displayed. Beside Insert Picture: click standard.
At that point the picture should be inserted as a line of text. At the bottom of your screen click Preview to ensure it looks OK.
When you're happy, Submit the post.
If you're still having difficulty, PM me and I'll send you my e-mail address. You can the e-mail me, and I will post it for you. _________________ Green Army position 5=

Some good replies and info with this, particularly WL, thanks.
Do you think some body, maybe BB, can take a look at the co-ordinates of my house in Hua Hin, and show the picture on here. Sorry, cannot get your proceedure to work for me BB. That may answer something.
12 Degrees 37`06.38 N
99 Degrees 56` 13.58 E _________________ May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead! |

Nereus,
Hope I've entered the co-ordinates correctly (never used co-ordinates before):

Thanks very much BB. The spot is a bit off, as my house is the second one in from the "Y" junction of the road in the top right hand corner of the estate, where the road actually runs through between the two parts of the estate. As you can see, about the only thing that can be identified is the swimming pools. Interesting, thanks again. _________________ May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead! |

And here are the images from KelpieKiss:
Hilton:
Khao Takiab Mountain:
Market Village:
Personally, I don't think they look much different to the quality I got (being able to identify individual paving stones would not be an option) - however, it wouldn't be the first time I'd been proved wrong. _________________ Green Army position 5=

Yeah, those pics look the same as the ones I have been getting recently, but about 100 times better than they were! Incidentally I think the UploadPics option is only available after a certain number of posts, or possibly you have to ask Lev or buksida nicely |

If you go to earth-dot-google-dot-com to download Google Earth, you'll see it is version 4.2 Beta. This tells me there is NO version 4.3. Though you can Google it, and some links come up, none of those links are Google's. No matter, 4.2 is pretty awsome.
