#8 is my daughter within the first minute of her life back in 2005 at Bangkok-Pattaya hospital. A special one for me (and hopefully her later in life) as no way was something like that allowed when my first two were born years ago. Fathers weren't even allowed in the delivery rooms then.
Funny in that a few other fathers there got dressed up in medical smocks, cap etc. before going into their delivery rooms. I was in there in an Hawaiian shirt and shorts. The GYN went out right before delivery and got into her smock, gloves, mask, cap....and rubber rain boots up to her knees. I laughed myself silly and she said "wait a minute..you'll see why I wear them..." And she was right, you don't want to be wearing good shoes on the business end of a baby delivery. .
Anyway, GO GECKOS...whoops....wrong poll. A free beer or a chicken in every pot for votes for #8! Pete _________________ "What America needs is a huge hypodermic needle of morality." Alice Cooper 21 Sept. 2007 |

#2 is a photo I took by chance at about 11 o' clock a.m.
I was exploring a new route in Northern Thailand, coming around a bend in the road I stopped to get my bearings, I noticed a traditional basket weaver! He was crafting away as you can see, oblivious to all around him!
With no time to spare I pulled out the digi camera (from 30 meters away) maxxed out the zoom and got off the picture you see before you today.
He wasn't even aware I took the photo and as I rode past him he scarcely looked up.
I didn't expect the photo to turn out as well as it did but I'll let you folks be the judge _________________ http://www.divinglore.com

where was picture 1 taken?
mine is picture 3, it is somewhere on the road between phitsanalok & chang rai. the temple is just off the main highway.
has to be one of the best examples of architecture i have ever seen. there are several other smaller additions in the temple gardens. _________________ when all are one & one is all, to be a rock & not to roll.

Pete,
I've got to tell you this - I was just showing the photos to my son. When he the photo of your daughter, his eyes popped out and he asked, "Who was stupid enough to put a snake in with their young baby?" _________________ Green Army Championship Survivors

Ahhh, the lessons of life. Glad I could help him on his way a bit in understanding how things work. The photo doesn't do that color blue in the umbilical cord justice. It was the most brilliant color blue, and I've never seen that exact shade anywhere else before or since. The place where stem cells reside I think. I was wondering that as well!
No.12 is by the temple in my wife's village just outside of Chumpuang (in Korat province). _________________ bibamus, moriendum est

Composition wise I really like Photo No. 6.
The boat on the horizon sets a mid point between the new life of the boy and the never ending eternity of the sunset. The still blue sky and shadows of another day over. The rolling surf to the right gives movement to this still picture.
That’s a great pic Buksida, the best of the bunch, but only IMO.
I also liked No. 4 for the playfulness, I can remember rolling old tyres down hills when I was a youngster. Good composition also. I can see that tyre going for miles.
No. 10 is a well taken pic, gives one a feeling of perseverance through the elements. Quite empowering really. Per Angusta In Augusta as I say in all my posts.
Good competition all round, if you do it again next month I will join in for sure.
Well done everybody who contributed. _________________ Per Angusta In Augusta.

I do hope so - I've already got my photo planned (planning photos is not a normal trait of mine, but the competition has changed my outlook). Will be taking it this weekend. Just hope it turns out OK. _________________ Green Army Championship Survivors
