Absolutely. You're both based in LOS, shouldn't have any issues proving the relationship, finance isn't evidently an issue and will have no problems demonstrating all the reasons to return. Good luck and I hope you have a great trip. I'm determined to see and show the missus some of europe before we make a permanent move to LOS (she lives in the UK).
But, the OP will find more of a problem demonstrating a lot of the above, although its worth pointing out that in excess of 90% of visa applications are granted, the trick has to be the preperation.
Actually, I would have preferred that my now wife travelled to the UK on a visit visa first, I think its logical and sensible thinking and something I expected having no problems in arranging. The reality came as a shock and having weighed everything up, we didn't bother applying in the end.

Don't even go near the embassy until you've covered every angle, everyone has heard the horror stories.
Forarmed and forwarned is a good idea and be realisric about candidate that wants the visa. |

This is not correct my wife came to the U.K on a 6 month fiance visa, and after we married,we changed it to a 2 year married visa (limited leave to remain) after that you have to do the life in the U.K test, that consists of 400 questions on politics,monachy,history,religion.and genral life in the U.K, this test is bloody hard my wife can read and write,and use a computer in english but she failed the first time you have to get 18 out of 24 qestions right and there are 12 tests and the qestions come in a random format and they even phrase the qestions diffrently so you cant memorize them,this is to make sure you really do understand them.Alternatively you can do an ESOL couse,the same as above and you learn to speak english at the same time 1 day a week at a collage.I have tested lots of my british friends on mock tests i have on my lap top, and not one of them can pass these tests,you really do have to read the text book.Only after you have done this you can apply for indefinate leave to remain and this will make your wallet £750 lighter in the process.The life in the U.K test only used to be for british citizenship but because the home office was in such a poor state of affairs and Charles Clarke was sacked,John Reed had to be seen to be doing something  so any non EU resident now has to do this test after 2 years,this is very unfare and put's people under a lot of stress, and another thing, is you can not work on a fiance visa but can on a married visa, so you can pay tax and NI contributions but are not entitled to clame any type of benifit,(you will be in breach of your visa) This is why i really resent all these east europeans flooding into the U.K and claming benifts it's an absolute free for all total unlimited and unchecked.Another thing that is stupid at heathrow you can come strait in on a tourist or student visa but if it is for settlement, you will be taken away to a medical centre for a chest x ray for TB you will also have a quick interview with medical staff to sort out where your nearest hospital for a full medical,the nurse told me you can at peak times have 200 people waiting.You can definitly queue together in the airports no problem have done this 7 times. |

Kendo, only in certain circumstances! Its wise for the wife to have the x-rays with them as hand luggage when they first arrive and always to have the document from the centre that does the test in Bkk.
My wife travelled on her own to the UK and sailed through. They just retained the x-rays, no idea why. Most come through okay.
Lots are passing the life in the UK test - I know several personally and only one that failed.
Stop the alarmism!

| Caller, as my wife traveled to the U.K on a Fiance visa we did not know anything about the chest x-ray, the point i am making is if you travel here on a student or holiday visa there is no medical implications.The nurse told me that the biggest spreader of TB in the U.K is people coming in from asia on student visa's and working in restarants,and they Know that it is only terminal 3 that has the medical centre so they come in to other european countrys and get a connecting flight to another terminal. |

Nevets, we are know sorted but wot a headache, if you have indefinate leave to remain and stay out of the U.K for more than 2 Years you are running the risk of getting you visa revoked by the home office,the only guaranteed way is to take british citizenship.  |

Well, yes, if as a foreign national you get indefinite leave to remain in any country and then choose not to remain, the right is likely to be removed at some point. That doesn't seem entirely unreasonable...

If you have just climbed the mountain we have you would not have the same opinion and hay....the cost! just to further you future relationship.If you had to do the same test in Thailand how difficult would anyone find this. |

Unfortunately it's virtually impossible to get indefinite leave to remain in Thailand.
Apparently the authorities here are thinking of introducing a similar test for farang teachers, though I haven't heard anything recently. Of course, if you passed the test, you'd still need a work permit and an extension of your visa every year...

| Dtaai maai,The life in the U.K government text book was out of date after 16 months so they revised it,and they are just about to revise it again because the U.K is changing so fast,the book becomes inaccurate quickly.So if you had your visa revoked for maybe staying in LOS for 4 years you would allmost be starting again and it really is not easy. |

Hi all! My Thai wife and I are currently awaiting a response from Singapore (responsible for Canadian Thai immigration) concerning our Canadian Permanent Resident Visa application. This is our second attempt. The difference between the 1'st and 2'nd application is that we are now married. (We got hitched while she was in Canada on a six months tourist visa) I have a gut feeling that she will be called in for an interview. I think this interview will be loaded with subtle "traps". Kendo alluded earlier to some of the questions they might ask my wife. I don't want to highjack this thread, but if anyone has further knowledge of what questions might be asked, I'd appreciate hearing them. I would like to be armed ahead of time. Thanks!
