|
|
The Vodafone 3G cards have been discussed elsewhere as a way of getting a wireless internet connection in Hua Hin for your laptop or PC. Someone also mentioned that the 3G cards are pretty expensive.
So, just a bit of info for anyone (particularly Brits) thinking of buying a new laptop & 3G card to do a bit of work in Thailand - if you live in the UK, Acer computers are bundling a Vodafone 3G card free with every Intel Centrino powered Acer laptop (& selected others). The cards themselves normally start at around 100 pounds sterling depending on the tariff you sign up for but there is also a Pay as you go tariff, for which the card is worth around 200 quid normal retail price! You can put a Thai sim card in them once in Thailand to get internet connection without paying Vodafone PAYG rates (2 quid per MB).
Acer can deliver the next day but Vodafone take a couple of weeks to get the 3G card to you so if this appeals give yourself time to get it all together before you leave for Thailand - unlike me .
Acer's website is:

Hope this saves someone some money! _________________ "The man who never made a mistake never did bugger all" - Old Welsh proverb
