|
|
Was out last night & while enjoying a cocktail or 5, started people watching. I noticed a few fashion "don'ts" that have been irritating me for a while, now:
Halter tops worn with normal bras. Does anyone think this looks good?
Rather old, large women wearing strappy tops & no bra. If you're over a certain size & over a certain age, boobs sag. For both of the above, I'd recommend strapless bras
Bikini tops worn while walking through town. I don't care how good your body is, this looks tarty & is disrespectful in Thailand. Same goes for men without shirts.
Big knickers with low-rise jeans. Not a good back view when you're sat down & leaning forward!
Clothes worn 2 sizes too small (this one, needless to say is virtually always a Western fault). It doesn't make you look thinner, quite the reverse in fact.
Anyone else have some pet fashion peeves, or is it just me? _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham, philosopher, 1748-1832

Altered tops as a result of abnormally large bras look good to me.

This is one example where Yanks have to be very careful with British English. Knickers I understand to be pants, per my ancestors words. In the above context it seems to be one's butt. However, knockers are boobs in amerslang. Oh what a difference one letter makes...LOL. Pete
PS: All women from all countries look slimmer wearing black. If you notice, it's a favorite color of most Thai women as well. |

Dr Dave,
How about socks worn with thong type flip flops? I kid you not, I've seen this a few times. Very strange! _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham, philosopher, 1748-1832

Don't:
The tiny tin shorts that are no more than underwear or the low cut bottoms with the thong sticking out are always an unpleasant sight.
Socks with sandles I often do not understand (unless it is just an open back shoe with a below the ankle sock).
I find many men have large stomachs (which is fine) but then they wear shirts that are too small and roll up above their navels.
Do:
What types of things would be "do"s? When my family and I go to the beach my husband and son wear t-shirts and a bathing suit. I wear a one piece bathing suit with a shirt and sarong.
I admit I sometimes find it difficult to balance looking well put together with being comfortable (I medically do not sweat much so I run the risk of overheating where my husband sweats like a normal farang-- too much ). _________________ As of mid August I am on vacation via traveling around the globe and I am not returning until the end of November (I have no Internet access until I return). You all sound fine for the beach. Bikinis are OK on the beach, too, but should be covered up as soon as you leave!. As Holly mentioned, topless is a definite no-no, here, although you do see girls doing it. Very tacky in Thailand. Funnily enough, blokes on the beach seem to get away with being topless all the time... _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk?
