From ANDREW DRUMMOND
in Kanchanaburi, Thailand for the SUN newspaper
BACKPACKER Vanessa Arscott was executed with three shots at point-blank range after a Thai cop ran her over, a court heard yesterday.
Police Master Sergeant Somchai Wisetsingh shot her after gunning down her boyfriend Adam Lloyd.
Vanessa, 24, fled screaming but he allegedly ploughed into her in his car, dragging her 80 yards, before pulling up and shooting her as she tried to crawl away.
There were bullet wounds to her chest, throat and lip.
Police forensics expert Major Wichit Samatiwat, 57, told the court: “Any of the bullets could have caused her death. Each could have been fatal.
“Burn marks around her chest show the gun must have been held close, almost touching it.”
Adam and Wisetsingh had brawled in the street after the policeman was said to have made a pass at Vanessa in a restaurant he owned.
When Wisetsingh lost the fight he followed the couple in his Volvo, wound down the window and shot Adam twice.
Wisetsingh, 38, says he shot Adam, of Torquay, Devon, in self-defence and Vanessa, of Ashburton, Devon, “got in the way of the bullets”.
He fled after the killings last September by the Bridge on the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi.
When he gave himself up a month later he re-enacted his version of the shootings for cops.
Witsetsingh — currently suspended from duty — arrived in court wearing a police combat jacket.
He denies two counts of murder. If he is convicted of killing Vanessa to cover up the first murder he faces an automatic death penalty.

What was the outcome of this story - did the copper ever get any real punishment for this cowardly attack.
I cannot understand why so little is made of this type of thing in the UK media.
EDIT _ Sorry just found another thread with the answer! _________________ www.notiowa.com |
