Hi

I am new to this forum and have had a good read of some of the threads. Myself and partner have fallen in love with Hua Hin and have been a number of times over the last 2 years.

We have decided we want to buy a house and are coming back in December for a month to have a serious look round the latest developments and maybe put a deposit down.

I have read alot about the Avolon projects and we have been to see the Summerlands development and the Avalon 1 developments and too be honest were quite impressed however there are quite a few negative comments about these so was slightly wary.

Does anyone have any recommendations of developments / resales that they either live in or know are of good quality and any to stay away from - this will help me narrow or search in December.

Sorry for the huge ramble!

Thanks

Bushido,
Welcome to the forum (missed your other posts). I can't recommend or steer you away from any developments, and I would be wary of reading too much into any comments, positive or negative, on here as you can't be sure who is really behind them some of the time, or the time frame when they were impressed or disappointed - things change, different contractors get brought in, value for money perceptions are different as are quality assessments.
Your plan of coming here is the best one, and go and knock on a few doors of already occupied properties on developments you like, as well as talking to people you meet socially who own property here - face to face you are likely to get a truer idea.
Good luck and happy house hunting!

This one is probably best kept to PM's. We do not want to get into anymore trouble or generate problems from angry developers complaining that HHAD is losing them business as anonymous posters are publishing derogatory comments regarding their operation.

Thanks for your understanding.
LJ.

i spent 3 weeks in hua hin last dec/jan & liked the area too. i may at some point in the near future decide to buy/rent a property here too.
there are a lot of positives & negatives to be read but as lomuamart says, its better that you go to look around & experience it for yourself.
it seems the current trend in property buying is to buy before the project is even built, sometimes even before the foundations are even laid, this from a photo or picture.
personally i would prefer to look at the finished product. showhouses dont always neccessarily give you the overall level of the finished product & the complete layout of individual properties.its only my opinion but its based on 30 years in the construction industry.have you ever seen a bad showhouse?
sometimes negative opinions have a habit of snowballing & that will no doubt end in unfair bad publicity for certain individuals or companies.these are usually petty grievances that spiral out of control into personal issues.this happens all over, not just in thailand.
i have seen a few unneccessary spats on hhad, not only concerning property. while its ok to have differing opinions, which are up for debate, there is a time & a place to air personal grievances & a forum such as this is not that place.
i have no doubt you will find plenty of helpful people & the property you want in hua hin. good luck with your search thumbs up

From what I have seen with others building houses in Huahin if you buy into an estate where the house hasn't been completed it pays to be there buring the construction to make sure you are getting what you paid for.

Rowdy, that is true but it is what the developer is supposed to be doing for his considerable profit, seeing as how in most cases they are using sub-contractors to build the house. If you are going to supervise the construction yourself you may as well just get the house built yourself and cut the developer out.

I agree with you, just saying you have to watch some of the developers as some don't seem to do there job as they should.

Yes, some of the bad developers get in the sub-contractors and pretty much leave everything up to them to build the house to an unrealistic budget.

No. Is this a statement because you are trying to tell us something? If it is, can you give us a clue? Or is it a question looking for feedback on the development?

We have bought a property in Natural Hill and are very pleased with the after care from the developers. We took over our house last Christmas and the developers have fallen over themselves to help us.

Dr Wiwat and his team have been great, our house is fabulous and we would do it all over again.

I would not reccoment anyone to look at this complex if I was not 100% happy with the outcome

Here is one happy customer

steve g, you are correct there & its no different to the uk. at the end of the day the company management are responsible for the properties. any bad workmanship whether by subbies or not should be sorted & rectified by the developer/management which is what they are paid for.
if some trades do shoddy work, they shouldnt be paid therefore saving the money to pay for someone who can do the work properly.
i work for several firms that operate this policy whether new build or renovation & its always a successful outcome.
by the way, what ever happened to the good old clerk of works??
