Hello All,

Has somebody an idea where can I get more or less detailed information about crimes relative to foreigners in Hua Hin? I mean not just the fact that crime rate is very low here but some statistics. Need it for the article. Thanks.

What article?
Give us a clue as to why you want these statistics, even if they exist.

Sounds strange to me. Is that some sort of secret information? Or maybe you suspect I am going to start crime gang here and collect marketing information? An article will be published on the website advertising Hua Hin as the good place for the calm beach holidays with kids and positive info about crime level is very useful from that perspective.

Why strange?
You're coming on this board asking for information to use in your's.
It's only correct that we know where any information is going to be used. Pretty simple isn't it?
Particularly when the stats you're looking for probably don't exist.
So, who are you writing for?

Your ask for explanations for every question here? Once again: such statistics (if collected) is absolutely open in every democratic country and my question does not affect your privacy or anyone also. And you can inquisitively ask me why do I need this information but if you insist it affects my privacy. Just IMHO.

One way or another, here is detailed answer: I am going to sell an article about my living here to one of Russian glossies, maybe GQ or Esquire. No matter do they take it or not I'll publish it in my blog here: myasia.livejournal.com (it is in Russian but mostly contains the photos of surroundings, just click "Читать дальше" - "Read more" if you are interested). Probably I'll publish this content somewhere also, not yet decided. All is clear now?

P.S. Sorry for my English, I know it is not perfect.

I can’t imagine that anyone apart from perhaps the tourist police would collate crime statistics purely against foreigners, have you tried asking them?

Fair enough,
I was a bit harsh there. Sorry.
Apparantly there are absolutely no crimes against westerners/farangs in this fair town of Hua Hin.
Is that OK?
Ask the police. Good luck with your articles.

Is it me, or do I sniff a clash of cultures here, that had the discussion been over a beer might never have happened?

Glad to see that appears to be recognised and "glasnost" has broken out!

Now, where's the vodka? Cheers

Don't like to drink straight vodka since overdose 18 years ago, when I served in the Soviet Army. But we may try some beer : )

I would get in touch with the Tessadban (local authority) at the Hua Hin Municipality offices. There is a website, but I can't find the details & I think it may be in Thai. I think you will get sanitised figures, but I'm sure you'll get figures, which you can quote, from them.

Actually, from what's reported in the English language media, I would think it's fairly low, too (the crime rate, that is).

And I was about to suggest a vodka drinking competition Russia vs Finland. Razz Maybe we could do it with beers, though. From which part of Russia do you come?

I have to give up even before we start - I am not a champion in this sport and I know Finns share the invincible reputation in drinking with Russians Smile If your want to compete - let's wait for one of my friends, who was trained for decade in Moscow criminal police and became really good sportsman - they drink like horses in Petrovka Smile He's going to come to see me. But for the moment I will be glad to have a couple of beers in the good company without competition.
