The cost of flights for this Christmas seems to have gone up a lot from last year.
Does anyone know of an agent that can achieve budget prices ?????

I always use search engines - never found an agent that can do it cheaper yet.
And dear Mr Brown is raising taxes on flights again in this years budget _________________ Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose |

If your dates around Christmas are flexible, I find using a company such as Last Minute . Com (working very slow today) very useful. They will display their best prices over a 1 week period each way. You can drill down to see if the flight suits you.
Once you have identified something reasonable/acceptable, you can then search for the same flights with your favourite agent(s). It certainly saves the hassle of numerous searches with each agent.
edit: should have said, you get the period display by hitting the flexibility option. _________________ Green Army position 5=

I've just tried the above, and used 22 Dec to 12 Jan (totally random dates) and flights were still available as cheap as £538.34. There were also a few for £550.
Sounds quite reasonable to me for Christmas. _________________ Green Army position 5=

Last year, 3 of flew out to Thailand for £1054 total after booking with Last Minute. Within 2 weeks, the cost had doubled, and a few days before we flew the same flight was over £1200 per head.
I don't believe leaving until 3 days before you wanted to fly at Christmas would work. Maybe if you wanted to fly a very unfashionable airline at the bottom of the close season, you may get away with a last minute booking at a budget price.
Booking very early is the key. _________________ Green Army position 5=

Lockwood, coupled with the rising cost of fuel and the fact that you want to travel in the highest priced travel season, that is why you cannot get cheap prices.
You will find this happening in any holiday season, any school holiday period etc.
Most travel companys and airlines have little or no cheap seats available in those periods as they can fill the seats without having to offer any cheap prices.
As previously suggested just shop around on the internet and see what you can find, and try places like the Flight Centre, Trailfinders and also enrol with the major airlines for their monthly specials etc.

Its obviously your choice, but personally I would consider it a very high risk strategy, and I honestly believe you've been very lucky until now.
I wish you continued luck in the future - late booking has never worked for me during busy periods. _________________ Green Army position 5=

| I think if you're travelling alone, it's easier to get late(r) deals. I have in the past. Never left it till 2/3 days though. |

I suppose it all depends on the dates you are visiting.
We have booked to arrive early December and the prices were reasonable. But our friends who are joining us mid December the price has doubled.
We booked through Trailfinders. Found them very helpful and they will search all the options for you.
If you are flexible with your dates then why not arrive earlier and make the most of being in Hua Hin |
