My laptop is looking grubby, full of fag ash. sticky discoloured keys that are sticking.
My fault really as I smoke and eat whilst I'm on line
Any clean up merchants around????? _________________ Why does my head feel so bad why does my soul feel so bad - Moby (Dick)

I've got some Foamclene.
Had it for years and it brings the keyboard up a treat. Squeaky clean. Bought it in the UK for 3.95 pounds years ago.
Good stuff, but there is a warning on the can. Can you guess what that will be, Jim? _________________ "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered". George Best. |

I've heard hair dryers do wonders but a BJ still leaves stickey bits _________________ Why does my head feel so bad why does my soul feel so bad - Moby (Dick)

There is a simple technical solution to this problem that requires precision and accuracy:
Turn it off.
Take the battery out.
Turn it upside down.
Smack it several times from a south easterly direction, against the wind and tilted at an angle of 42 degrees from the horizontal plane.
Re-insert battery.
Turn it on ... et voila, she will sing like an Kazakh oil prospector swimming in the Caspian Sea. _________________ Luctor et Emergo |

After folowing Buksi's suggestion, before you connect the power or the battery, follow these steps:
1 - Dampen (not wet - just moist enough) an old T-shirt with Windex (glass-cleaning liquid)
2 - Without applying much force, rub all the keys and sticky areas.
3 - Repeat as needed
4 - Using just a small amount of the multi-purpose cleaner cream, in the picture (can be bought in Shopping Mall or most of the hardware shops), you can get, almost a brand-new look and feel.
5 - Same can be applied to mobile phones, remote controls, streos, etc...
I hope this helps... _________________ Say mai penrai live longer! |

Or, you can just go out and throw it into the sea given the state of the internet here. Who needs a computer, go back to reading hardcopy, use a fax machine, call your friends, buy a new calculator, and write letters with a pen or typewriter. Pete |

Na. Nothing like that. Says not to expose to naked flame. It's highly efficient, crackles occasionally, is anti-static?, and should be stored at temperatures of below 50 degrees.
Might give it a go later, as long as the front room dosn't get too hot. _________________ "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered". George Best. |

| If you can find any, electrical contact cleaner is about the best thing to spray on anything electrical, it's designed for it. |

My original posting was not about cleaning the Exterior but about opening the box up and sorlting out all the crap under the key board. My problem is my ashtray is 2 feet from the box and also sometimes I'm eating whilst typing.
Before you jump down my throat I KNOW that is a bad practice. 'You can lead a horse to water but-----' _________________ Why does my head feel so bad why does my soul feel so bad - Moby (Dick)

You havn't seen mine. At least 6years of fag ash, beer, food etc. And it's still working.
I've taken a look at this here and it seems to be solid state.
Anyway, although said tongue in cheek before, I'll always trust Foamclean.
I'm going out for a beer. Hopefully the 4 foot etc will follow soon. _________________ "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered". George Best. |
