The Italians, already under suspicion of domestic cheating managed to win the penalty lottery against the headbutting French in the World Cup final.

What a disgrace - widely hailed as the best player of tournament, Zinadine Zidane relegated World Cup football to its lowest level.

The only good point was the introduction of a form of video refereeing. Zidane was on the verge of getting away with his disgraceful act when the 4th official intervened after watching the video replay on TV. Its as well that he was retiring - he'd have probably been banned anyway. At least Rooney kicking that guy in the bo*@/*s was only accidental.

After all of the criticsm of England's disgraceful football, I thought I was sitting down in front of the TV for a footballing feast. Well...............it was awful. They could have played for another 120 minutes without scoring another goal.

Anyway, regardless of the standard of football, or any other misdoings, bow I T A L Y bow are the champions for the next 4 years - well done.

Oh, Big Boy! That report was going so well until I reached this:

LOL!!!

If I am walking down Bintabaht one day and you are passing by, I swear I will be able to recognise you immediately - you will be the one wearing the blinkers!

lach

As for the match, pretty dull apart from Henry pretending to be knocked out and Zidane trying to knock someone out! A yawn of a final to a below standard world cup.

Despite what the TV pundits have said I think its all been a bit of a let down.

I am personally glad that Italy beat this French side, whose petulance has gone under the radar because of the Portuguese antics. Now this French team has added actual violence to its repertoir.

I don't think Zidane would have slotted his penalty anyway, since his aim was clearly off judging by his headbutt! Razz Seriously though, as Alan Hansen said "It just gets worse every time you see it!"

So, Zidane is disgraced and Henry continues to pout and whine like a baby.

People seem to forget that poor Wayne was subjected to prolly two fouls that the ref. failed to award before he accidentally caught Carvalho.

Were you all watching the same game I was? Italy V France was fantastic! France put their all into it against a stuffy resolute Italian defence. The standard of play was very high. The Zidane head butting incident only added to the gladiatorial spectacle it was. As the game wore on, France went in to all-out attack, trying like hell to out fox the best defence in the world.

Italy were rattled as France won tackle after tackle and managed to do so without letting an Italian player fall down for no reason and win a free kick, (their tackles were clean, hard and concise). Italy were losing the ball in midfield and France came at them, wave after wave. Even when Zidane was sent off France were still the attacking team, but on the rare occasions when Italy managed a break away attack they looked more likely to score. The game was on a knife-edge all the way through - how can that be dull?

I suspect if one of the teams were England, Big Boy would have thought it was excrutiatingly exiting, but because you had no allegiencies, you found it boring. I suspect only something like a 5-4 thriller irrespective of the standard of play would have whetted your appetite?

Sorry, but you guys don't know a great game when you see one, and a great game it was.

I fully agree with Jockey here. A great match between two great teams. I must admit I felt sorry for Zidane. He must have totally lost his mind - in an unacceptable way of course - over something Materazzi said to him after they clashed into each other. Materazzi is not a nice chap, that's a well known fact. Any suggestions what he said to Zidane? Twisted Evil

I suspect the correct answer would need to be edited out by the moderator!

I think he was taunted throughout the match.

I thought France would lose the penalties since Zidane, Vieira, Henry and Ribary were all out. I thought it was a fairly good match as WC final and yes, I thought the French had the upper hand.
However, I don't they will blame the manager for not winning the world cup; both Ribary and Zidane had chances to finish the match off in the extra time.
One word of condolence for the English fans; all Thai commentators were surely on your side. Even when Nevill got the ball near his own corner flag, the commentators were using their "ohoos, mhhhhhs and maehaes" like he was about to score the winner. Razz

That wasn't Neville playing last night - just a look alike. Very Happy
