Cracking result. We only got the 1st 3 results to give other teams a fighting chance.
Now bring on United. |

A good and much needed win for Liverpool, beating Inter Milan 2-0. Means Rafa keeps his job a little longer.
Chelsea played out a dull 0-0 draw which should be enough to see them finish the job at Stamford Bridge.
Tomorrow should see great matches between Man Utd and Lyon, and AC Milan and Arsenal.
For us it is another opportunity to welcome Barcelona to Paradise and its special atmosphere on European nights. The way we have been playing recently means we could have another victory over the Catalans. Long trip ahead! _________________ Hail! Hail! |

Tam, had a look at the stats on the bbc website and seems that the greeks had slightly more possesion than us. but 0-0 is a good result. Looking at the team they put out, I was a little supprised as not really our strongest team on the park.
But in saying that, is goos to go in at half time in the tie at 0-0.
Good luck tonight and hope the bus trip is not to long on the way back

Well done to the scousers, but Chesea were crap last night. We didn't really seem to be looking for the win? Very disappointed against an average team and I hope it doesn't backfire against Grant at the Bridge.
The last few weeks have seen a dip - winning - but not playing too well.
Good luck to tonights teams. |

| Thai Tam - I assume your going tonight? Hope its another great night to remember! I'm all excited and I hope its on satellite, going to get up at 5am to watch (post match). Celtic might have a rookie 19 year old Paul Cadis at right back cos' Hinkel is "cup tied". Scary!! Key player battles could be Scott McDonald v Gabriel Milito. McDonald has had an exceptional debut season and Aiden McGeady has been on scintillating form too. Like McDonald, he is a candidate for player-of-the-season honours in Scotland. Puyol is likely to line up at right-back for Barcelona and is just about the toughest opponent McGeady could meet. He's made a swift return from injury, having at one stage been doubtful. Puyol's duel with McGeady could be the crunch battle of the tie. Puyol likes to get forward, and it will be up to McGeady to make sure he rarely gets the chance. Aiden McGeady must win his battle with Puyol. Captain courageous McManus has played every minute of Celtic's six Champions League games so far and scored in the home victory against AC Milan. McManus rarely makes mistakes for club or for country, and he'll know what to expect from Henry - and from Deco, Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi for that matter - but our challenge is to stop the brilliant French striker shattering our European dream. Henry has not been at his very best since joining from Arsenal last summer, but he was on the scoresheet on Saturday and worryingly might be coming good at the right stage of the season. Lets hope fortress Parkhead keeps Henry and co. out with 3 goals to the Celts from McDonald, McGeady and new signing Samaras. |

Well despite penetrating them twice, they were completely dominant from beginning to end, coming at us from all areas and scoring 3 times. It was a joy to watch though. |

Jockey,
Great atmosphere and I'm really proud of the applause both Ronaldhinio and Henry received when they were substituted (same of course could not be said for Deco).
At half time I thought we might have a chance.
However, class on behalf of Barcelona and ineptitude on our side meant it was not to be. We had to be on top our game just to compete, and sadly we were not whilst Messi, Henry, Puyol et al show how good they are.
No complaints and lets hope we can put on a show in the Nou Camp.
Journey back down was quite and then off to worl this morning! _________________ Hail! Hail! |

Looks like Manchester United & Chelsea should progress comfortably to the Quarter Finals.
Liverpool will have to guard against Inter scoring an early goal which would open the tie up.
Arsenal have a very difficult task.AC Milan away is very daunting.A 1-1 draw would see them through but are they good enough ?
Celtic.....well,they have had a great run.Barcelona was about the toughest tie they could have got. They have got to win by two goals away.
Sorry, but its too tall an order.Concentrate on catching Rangers in the SPL.

Yep,a fantastic result for Arsenal.Congratulations to them !
To be honest, the way theyve being playing recently,I thought theyd struggle in Milan.
United through,as well.Ronaldo's 30th goal in 30 games this season
It would be nice if Chelsea and Liverpool joined them.If we had 4 English teams in the last 8,surely we'd get a winner this time ! Would make up for our national teams no show in Euro 2008
Commiserations to Celtic. It was always gonna be a tough call in Barcelona but you did great to reach the last 16.

Thanks for all the comments on our result against Barcelona. In the end class told. I just hope our experiences this time round will stand us in good stead for next year.
Manchester United progressed as expected but not as easily as anticipated, but never really look troubled in defence.
What a truly great result for Arsenal, no doubt they will believe they can now win the tournament.
Will Liverpool and Chelsea make it a clean sweep for the English? _________________ Hail! Hail! |
