Man Utd 1 Chelsea 1 (United win 6-5 on penalties)
What a great match....what a fantastic advertisment for the Premiership.
What a shame such a match had to be decided on penalties.John Terry was my man of the match and, even as a United fan,I felt sorry for him when he missed.
United were superb in the first 35 minutes. How Chelsea were level at half time even the KGB would find difficult to explain !
But in the second half Chelsea were in control and United were grateful for the final whistle....injury time was even.
What was that melee about where Drogba was sent off....handbags at dawn!
Earlier I thought Makelele and Carvalho were harshly booked but one guy who deserved to go was Ballack for his continual whingeing at the ref.
So United end up with the two major trophies...a bit harsh on Chelsea who were so close...but theres still the English League play offs and Euro 2008 before the Premiership/Champions League starts all over again !!

Jockey there is one thing certain and that is that Aberdeen will do all they can to stuff Rangers chances. There is never any love left between the players or the fans.
Must say I hope Rangers come out on top.

A genuine question Jockey - when I left the UK a couple of weeks ago, Rangers had it all sewn up. I am not an avid follower of the Scottish game. How have Celtic managed to get their noses in front going in to the final hurdle? _________________ Green Army position 21

Big Boy, Rangers got in a big fixture tangle due to their sucess in all comps that they have been in this year, plus domestic cup game replays.
They had a chance last week to go a few points in front but dropped two at Motherwell in the last game and that is how it has ended up all square at present.
The Scottish league actually extended the season by a couple of weeks due to this fixture congestion.

Rangers were 8 points behind Celtic with 4 games in hand. They drew 2 and won 2 of these. (One of the wins was the most obvious displays of refereeing cheating I have ever witnessed) The SPL postponed a Rangers league game to help them prepare in Europe and did not ask them to rearrange postponed matches to help them prepare for Europe. Instead they extended the league to help them again. Rangers still complained all this help was not enough and they wanted more help (note: when Celtic & Aberdoon reached the UEFA cup final there was no extension and no help - indeed Celtic had to play a vital league match against rangers 2 days after a European match - the biased Scottish press told Celtic to stop whinging and get on with it).
Celtic have won their last 6 matches back to back. Dundee Utd are no pushovers, but Celtic are now favourites for the league.
Footnote : Ex Rangers player and supporter Gordon Smith is head of Scottish Football. The Daily Record (Scotland's paper and mouthpiece for Rangers) actually reported an article about the the Rangers fans "Hero's of Manchester"
Its a funny sectarian ugly world up there in Scotland, Celtic fans are accused of being paranoid, (just because your paranoid doesn't mean its not happening). Thankfully I know and have friends with many Rangers fans who are very good people. They are not all despicable although a large portion are as witnessed everywhere they travel. |

I agree with you almost all the way Zidane
except of one point that you mentioned "but one guy who deserved to go was Ballack for his continual whingeing at the ref" On this point I strongly disagree. He's the one who wanted this Cup the most (after failing to win it the first time with Leverkusen) He;s the one who stood up for his Team mates. For me Ballack was the workhorse for Chelsea and He's my Man of the Match!
Whoooaaa!!! What an interesting match it was last night. that shows again that the English Premier League is still The Non Plus Ultra when it comes to Football. German Bundesliga does not even come on the Horizon for what the EPL is right now. Simply great Footie last night.
Does anyone in Thailand woke up with massive Eye rings cause of the Champions League Bout last Night?

A lot more than eye rings - very tired and a sore head as well. Well worth not getting home until 5am though However, today has been a bit of a washout _________________ Green Army position 21

Hello Big Boy
I know one thing that Plymouth Argyle and Hertha BSC Berlin have in common. Their both finished 10th place in their respective Leagues
( I would die to see all Football crazy Bangkok Office workers right now. almost all of them looking like Pandas now cause of the massive Eye rings resulting of the sleepless encounter with Champions League Final last night!!!)

Yes,Jockey, its amazing how both the English & Scottish Premier Leagues have gone to the wire with the two top clubs equal on points coming into the last game.
I think Celtic will do it....quite a turnaround in the last few weeks.

Although John Terry has proven to be a very good defender, several things have occurred involving him which brand him as a scumbag in my eyes, both on and off the pitch. Last night was a case in point; during the fracas which ended in Drogba being sent off, he clearly (and there is now way to put this delicately) blows snot from his nose aimed at Tevez, striking him on the back of the neck. You can see Tevez' face after, and he is clearly astonished. This follows a number of other incidents involving Terry in the past, and I laughed myself silly when he missed his penalty as it was true karma. Of course none of the TV pundits or newspapers have picked up on it but they should, as after all this man has been and may be again England captain. I hope not though as he sets a terrible example to youngsters. And he's a cry baby |
