|
Sometimes when I send emails to people, the email gets rejected time after time. The addresses are valid as I have sent them mail before, and them to me. Maybe a week or so later the email goes through after I have tried upto 10 times. The rejected emails may be going to the UK or Canada, different countries/service providers. Sometimes they go through to these people at first attempt!?
I'm on hotmail and below is the reject message I get:
Thanks for any help ..............

I use hotmail but via MSN hotmail website.
I guess what your saying is I should take it up with them.
Cheers,

FYI, Burger, I'm on TOT ADSL and use hotmail. I never have a problem. However, when on that dreaded TOT free, I would occasionally get the message you've highlighted simply because the speed of service couldn't cope wth it.
Maybe that's your problem, although ADSL should be able to handle it, I think _________________ "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered". George Best. |

I too have had problems with the annoying Hotmail Delivery Failure notice. The point is though that if you get that notice it had to have been generated by AOL or Hotmail itself. There could be many reasons for this. Late delivery, host too busy, retry count exceded etc.
I do not believe that TT & T or TOT are aware that the data they are sending out of Thailand to a foreign address over the www is email and therefore would not be able to generate that message. Their job is solely to chuck data out and receive replies. Inthe event of any failure they retry so many times and then drop the communication. You browser will display a message saying that ther was a comms problem.
Unless some stand in node for Hotmail has been installed in Thailand to handle outgoing emails to Hotmail addresses is is not possible for TT & T or TOT to intercept them.
There has been much evidence and chat going on for the past year about Hotmail's capabilty to handle the current volumes of email. There is even speculation that MS themselves deliberately do nothing about it as it does not direcltly influence MS revenues. Whether this speculation is true or not the result has been that Hotmail traffic does not grow although Yahoo is growing at an enormous rate.
The way I have tackled the problem is to set up Yahoo accounts with the same prefixes as my Hotmail accounts and gradually got people to send to the new account. This has worked quite well so far but needs a bit of work. I am now at the point where I can close (or leave idle for MS to deal with) all Hotmail accounts.
In the early days of email it was MS's stategy to provide email so that the whole world became familiar with MS. That is no longer a requirement as 90% of the world's machines use MS products anyway. Yahoo are an Internet/email focussed company and depend on their service for revenue.
In a nutshell: Ditch Hotmail and move to Yahoo. If you don't want them to put crap all over your PC when you first connect then say no to every option you are offered. _________________

Yahoo wont be much better.
If you want to use email for professional purposes (ie more than the odd letter to mum) you need your own domain and mail server which is remarkably inexpensive considering how much people rely on email.
Webmail (hotmail, yahoo, aol etc) is basically only suitable for "home" or "light" users, all depends on your requirements really.
The ISPs here do not help matters either with their flakey services, hence my reference to TOT as others have had similar problems with that provider, not to mention Maxnet which is even worse. _________________ Luctor et Emergo |

Both Buks'is comment are valid but in the case of email I have used Yahoo for a year and although it has problems it is generally improving and I have not lost any emails yet.
Firefox will not help with the email problem. Goos idea to use it but do not get rid of MS Explore. Many sites do not support Firefox. _________________

Hi Burger,
When I first came here I set a laptop with a mobile phone/blue tooth conection through One to Call. Its slow, but it works fine most of the time and is v. cheap (plus I can take it around with me).
However - I had real problems sending and opening Hotmail emails(I guess due to the amount of adverts), similar to the ones you seem to be having - I changed to Yahoo as has been suggested. That didnt seem to be any better - so I tried Gmail from Google. I have been using this for 6 months now and I am well impressed. To get it you need to be invited (god knows why!!) but if you want - PM me and I will happily send you an invite - same goes for anyone else on here.
Good luck. _________________ Your a long time dead! |

Hi Burger
I also have been using Gmail from the start, and had no problems with it for E-Mails I am also impressed with it. You will need to be invited, but any one with Gmail can send you a invite as Teabone has said.
You can have 2 browsers Firefox and MS Explore. as i have.
But many sites do not support Firefox. as Guess has commented on
