I mate of mine recently checked himself into HH hospital for conditions related to a potential DVT, or something preventing proper blood flow to his lower leg. When I went to visit him, I was a bit overwhelmed by the conditions of this hospital. He shared a room with atleast 9 others, not including the flies and dogs that felt they belonged there as well. The toilet he shared with 9 other patients was beyond disgusting. Two doctors (neither of which spoke English) did see him in the 18 hours he was there, but both come up with different diagnosis. I convinced him to immediately check out and we drove to Bumrungrad in BKK. Bumrangrad seemed more like a 5 star hotel, and within seconds of walking through the door, receptionists quickly began the check in procedures. Everyone spoke prefect English, including the doctor who saw him promptly. After a extensive battery of tests were completed, a confident diagnosis was given, and he was sent home. IMHO, if you are uncertain of the condition of your health, don't waste time in HH hospitals, spend the extra money and go to Bumrungrad.

Can't agree more

I've had 2 strokes in the last 4 years. SP said it was a fever. My missus got me to the Bumrangrad. Sorted me out instantly after 2 days in the ICU. The hospital is ranked in the top 5 in the world. Not only their doctors and specialists are the tops but the nursing care and administration are spot on

Definitely 5 star

The only hassle is getting there when you are seriously ill here or Khon Kaen. They will send an ambulance though so you get assistance on the way

Here the local hospitals are ok for cuts, bruises and mild fever. Beyond that they have no idea

Bumrangrad costs but 'it's your money or your life' Very Happy Very Happy

Just to have a perspective view, Google this:

"Bumrungrad hospital death"

I think that this has been on this forum before, and I for one, would not take a sick dog to a place that treats people in the manner that my daughter was treated in this hospital.

True information from both of you, but if you can't afford to pay 850.000 Bt for a by-pass operation you have to consider another hospital.

Phetcharat Hospital in Petchaburi would be, (and still is), my first choice of field hospital if I am in need of any sort of treatment in Hua Hin.

If I'm not reported off the sick list after a week then I maybe would consider the first class Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok.

http://www.bumrungrad.com/

But of course, we still don't know much about the New Hua Hin Hospital.
The old one was a bit better than San Paulo. Barely.

Petcharat is great but I will be the first to admit it has not got the high technology equipment to cope with a very serious complaint

I've been there and they moved to the Bumrangrad

Don't get me wrong, Great hospital but not in the same grade

Depends on the severity of your illness

That website is very sad in more than one way; a father has lost his son in what is probably a tragic accident, and is trying to find out the truth, only to be stonewalled by the Thai hospital and police in the matter. Knowing Thailand as we do, I think there is every chance that a mistake was made by someone at the hospital, and the attempts to save face and money by the hospital could easily include 'favours' being asked for and given in the 'investigation', as any revealing of the truth might have a devastating impact on the hospitals cashflow; these are, after all, businesses first.
richard, I think you are being extremely unsympathetic to the father in question, as I can't imagine you would let something like this go without pursuing it to it's fullest extent if it happened to you; this man has obviously been through the wringer over this, and is seeking justice, which in this world now sadly means money. The fact that he is asking for donations simply indicates to me that he is spending/has spent all his money on trying to resolve this; I just hope he can get closure on it, and that someone takes responsibility.
