If anybody knows anybody that has 'Phillip Pullmans' His Dark Materials Trilogy (The Golden Compass; The Subtle Knife; The Amber Spyglass): I would kindly chop off a toe to borrow these. I read the first book and a half 4/5 years ago and forgot to bring them with me to finish. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

OK, I've got the following that I will swap (permanently) for other books I haven't read.

They're all paperback & in 'normal 2nd hand condition'

Thrillers:
Ken Follet - Whiteout
John R Maxim - Abel Baker Charley
Faye Kellerman - The Forgotten
Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child - Still Life With Crows

Other genres:
Nicholas Evans - The Smoke Jumper
Tim O'Brien - The Things they Carried

If anyone's interested, I'll let them know the blurb/a rough synopsis.

I'll check through my other books sometime, for ones I'd be willing to lend.

Or maybe people can check out central hotels/ bars with spare space and negotiate use of the are 1 or 2 days per week, maybe a small fee for lending - 10 baht whic could be an incentive to the owner to agree plus peoples may well buy a bevvy while they are there. Volunteers amongst us to man the stall?

I go through a couple of paperbacks a week and once I read them I'm done with them for good so I exchange them at the bookseller in Satukarn square.

She has the best selection I've seen here although her prices are high and you lose a lot in exchange but I don't mind. It keeps me in reading material.

The average price of her used paperbacks is b200 and unless a book is badly abused, she gives me b50 to buy back from me. I just dropped off a sack full there yesterday and added b500 and came home with another sack full.

Works for me! thumbs up

When I was on Samui, and on the occasional visit to Pattaya, the general price was around 180-200 baht, but the trade in was 50%.

I have to say I wasn't impressed by the Satukarn Square shop. A limited range, and anything interesting was very expensive. There was also a tendency to price by size, as happens here quite often.

And the HHAD bookswap is free!

It was only last month Ja, suggested that a good book shop in Huahin would be a good idea.whether or not you could make a bussines from it is another thing though.
Considering the price of shop rent in huahin centre, i cant imagine a shop just depending on the sale or exchange of books having much luck.
Although some of the outer soi rents are ok.
Maybe a Dehli/coffee style shop could be included.
As for obtaining the books im sure i can get over that problem.
will look into this some more and let you know .
I like a challange, and if it dont work then ill try something else.
Cool
