JW - there is a turkey that lives down one of the side sois on my street - big american looking thing - also vicious as hell (chased me once when I was going for fags). I was so shocked.....I've never been chased by dinner before!

You bring a sack and I'll bring my big stick......

Good to know that he is in safe hands. He was quite a character in his day and there's not that many owners like him around now.

Just though I'd mention that George's Bar has now been refurnished and turned into a bar and restaurant, serving a selection of Thai and Polynesian dishes.
Ate there a couple of nights ago and the food was good, very reasonably priced too.

doesn't matter what bar in town you go too, one thing for certain the prices are rising faster than the sun, ok for the tourists but us expats here are getting a short deal.
In town I can pay up to 90 baht for a small singha, thai bar outside town 30 baht, why do farang bar owners have to be the ones to rip other farangs off, then they complain about no business in town.

come on guys get real!!!!

we all know the wholesale prices of beers here.

how much you want to make.?

You answered your own question:

In town I can pay up to 90 baht for a small singha, thai bar outside town 30 baht

Someone has to pay the rent. Economics 101

Exactly!

...and it seems, that not the farang bar owners are the "bad guys", but the Thai landlords, which are giving the word “greedy" a new interpretation... believing it will bring more and more people to town, whenever they double the lease!
Shoot em up

hi
when I stayed in Chatturat I payed 25 Baht for a bottle Acha Beer...We ha also great fun with the thai friends in several karaoke bars....still miss it... here in HH is the nightlife/bars not very exciting...maybe I m not sooo drunk anymore like some years ago....but Celtic is still the same and Jaegermeister is still available there...but my impression is that the expensive part of my holiday is still the beer / drinks ....
regards Rosso

The prices for beer & shooters are mostly on European standard already in my eyes.
No wonder, that this is the most expensive part of your vacations here.
The "real" prices of spirits or beer-boxes didn't rise!
As JohnnyK said already and stated above...it's the raise of lease for a bar/restaurant etc. !
Someone has to pay the bill...and that are the customers, of course!

So forget the Jaegermeister or let your credit card burning... thumbs up

I just got back from Hua Hin. You really do notice a big difference between the prices charged in town now all right.

I drink Tiger (now that you can't get Carlsberg anymore) and in town I paid from 60 baht in one bar up to 90 in another for a bottle. In the past, most bars charged pretty much the same.

Still it is much cheaper than european prices, so as a tourist I'm not complaining but I can see why the expats would.

Luxrebel, I agree with you that in general Hua Hin is much cheaper than Luxembourg, but if you’re interested I know a Portuguese owned place in Neudorf that can compete!

Thx Luxrebel for the info.
S, Thx for the comparisons, great to know that in Neudorf someone is also sticking to affordable prices in a portugese owned bar -unfortunately that is probably the ONLY affordable place in Neudorf..no offence - I LOVE portugese culture and bars, but Steve -hope for u u'r on your way over here soon to enjoy smile prices...

Hi Elem, I’m heading out to Thailand next weekend for the whole of December so perhaps I’ll see you around.
Portuguese bars in Luxembourg are OK, but I prefer to socialize without the freezing fog at this time of year.
