Hmmm? By whom? And in whose favour?
Yes, 100 or more bars would be difficult to put in a poll. I asume it can be cut down to 10 or so favourites from this thread? _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham, philosopher, 1748-1832

Agreed Dawn, bars are very personal spaces. Whenever I'm in Hua Hin, I usually stick to two or three on my "personal list" just for expediency's sake. But I've often wondered what mysterious adventures awaited in the countless others that I have walked passed...it's all really a blur of bells and whistles on any given night. I guess being stuck here in freezing Canada compells me to fantasize about those too few hot nights and festive lights of my last vacation. Any bar reviews, or polls, or interesting stories would be gladly welcomed. _________________ Maverick |

| Do the two people that mentioned Road Hole being one of their favourites, know that it has been closed for rather a long time.......or do you mean those little new bars that are at Road Hole's old location.... |

Road Hole has been open for a rather long time.
Yes, in the same location you gave.

| was in hh for summer. went to bitterbomb for awhile and met some great guys on vacation. alas this proved to be inconsistence for my grovling purpose. some time great time others not so hot. so i started going to local pubs. as in neighborhood bars. this appealed to my natural south side of chicago instincts, a town once legendary for a bar on every corner. no longer true. It's one of the things i love about Thailand, you can drink till you drop. so i found a couple of bars where guys went pretty much every nite and lived in town full time. soon i came to know most of them and could always fine a friendly mate to swill with. i still like bitterbomb and will go there always when i vist or retire, maybe 1.5 years, but good local pubs close to home and a bit cheaper are a hell of a good time. |

"kissbutt" is close enough, I actually don't mind JW's but there are better bars, as someone said its personal preference.
I presume "bitterbomb" means bintabaht ... I supposed it could be a bitter bomb if you choose the wrong girl. |

Yes, it is a matter of personal preference. I don't believe there are any JW sycophants on here. I think some people may like it because it has friendly management, good food & no hassle from girls. Not all of us are looking for "company", and it's nice to have a few alternatives in town if that is not your quest. _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? Did i get sycophant right????
P.S. actually when i go to JW's its because of the lack of girl hassle. |

Having just looked up the meaning of sycophant in my dictionary, I must admit I don't understand the reference to JW informers/flatterers when JW is a member of the forum anyway.
Can somebody please put some more meaning to bubbly's posting for me (or have I just a sense of humour failure)? _________________ Green Army position 21

Yes, bubbly, you spelt it right & it was in the right context (in the sentence). We all post regrettably when a bit sozzled.
BB, I think it was just a joke that went a bit awry. _________________ "The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham, philosopher, 1748-1832

I'll be returning to HH in a few weeks. I read a post that said Jonny Walker's has girls that don't harrass you. Are these girls also for hire but just let you make the move? A courtesy I would appreciate.

P&P Bar
Geronimo (I like the no hawkers rule)
Lucky Lukes
Luknam Pub (the roadhouse /gig venue out of town - excellent in house band)
Hot Sauce in Cha Am.....shame it aint in HH.
Cant say I care for JW - been there twice in two years, both times pissed English lads started fighting....the last one was during the Cartoon gig last week. Its a shame because I remember the Sunday roast was good, and the staff are cool.
Shame some of the clientèle cant get past they aint back home any more. |

Sandman,
Last weeks trouble was a real shame, not sure about the other time you mention - I had gone home when the trouble started (couldnt have done anything anyway).
I was really pisd off when i heard about this - but as we all know theres not much you can do when people get too much beer.
No trouble last night to report!

| Sandman, I must have been in JW’s over a hundred times in the last two years and I’ve never seen a fight; you must be either very unlucky or you’re looking at people in a funny way! |
