Hi Guess,
Tesco value Baked Beans 9p per tin.
Was interesting reading about where potatoes came from and also the mention of tobacco.
I still have the LP of Bob Newharts sketch about Sir Walter Reilegh introducing it to civillisation, one of the funniest things i ever heard.

Guess,
good stuff about Pizzaro and such like . The jury is out ,who did bring those two great dicoveries , spuds and nicotine to blighty?
Personally I was always suspicious about the masters at my old school , I mean anyone who enjoyed administering corporal punishment to schoolboys must have been a bit dodgy(note to dr.dave , corporal punishment is not some bloke in the army, and punctuation is allowed ),I new they were full of s**t.
So, who is responsible . Some posh geezer who was a mate of the Queen of England , until he was beheaded,or an illegitimate, illiterate wop, who liked a bit of travelling.
Whoever it was, better not let any obese, niccotine addicted Americans know , or for sure they'll be on the phone to claims direct , trying to sue the culprits descendants.
But seriously, good stuff Guess,
Baked beans yeah !!!!!( just to stay " in thread" you understand).
Aitch.
p.s. Dr Dave , you seem to be rather fond of Jaimie, is their something you would care to share with us, on this frank and open forum.
Maybe we should look out for a new thread , entitled " when is it a good time to come out ?"
BEFORE YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND OPEN IT!
Do love a bit of a giggle . |

What a great day I have had today. I have spent a couple of hours of research to ensure that what I posted (deliberately ommitting Sir beheaded Walter Raleigh, the inventor of the bicycle) and have established that the current historical belief is that tobacco was indeed first brought into Europe from civilization by the crew of the two little boats that the very brave Italian (Genoese at the time) commanded. Three went out but only two came back. The crew were Spanish after all.
As for "spuds" which I guess is the limey slang for Idaho Baldheads, I can not establish the exact date of introduction from civilization to the underworld of Europe. I would guess though that Pizzaro had more on his mind than spuds. The main attraction with the Peruvian Andes (after you get bored with the local broads) is the yellow shiny metal which at the time was found in abbundance. Good job ther were no Polish seaman at the time otherwise we would all be wearing very starchy jewellery.
I got my belated copy of the New Scientist today only nine weeks late courtesy of the Thai state mail service. An interesting article I found. The methane gas emmitance of a young steer in one day can power a ecofriendly three ton truck for 30 miles. (50 KM). This got both my braincells working in tandem.
If a steer can power a truck of this size so far in one day then what could a sheep do.
My business plan. Export Tuk-Tuks to Wales and modify them to acommodate a healthy Welsh ram and a trough full of freshly mown grass. Set up a taxi service in Cardif and completely clean up. You could undercut the gas guzzling opposition and even charge the local residents a fee for collecting the fuel from their front gardens.
Does anybody know where I can a ticket to Cardiff? _________________

I too have suspicions. Firstly the tangental thread on Quiches was avoided and then just look at that signature
[Mid-16th century. Via French bougre “heretic” from Latin Bulgarus , literally “Bulgarian,” from Western Christian association of heresy with anal intercourse.]
Is Ystrad Mynach in Bulgaria and why is it royal. I thought to obtain royal status the town had to have resident royalty (E.g. Prachuap Khiri Khan). _________________
