Guys, looks like I'll be staying at the Baan Sa Suan condos just past the Hyatt for a few weeks in July.

Any reviews? Cheers

The place is obviously reserved for Royalty like myself and you local riffraff are kept at arms length.

Or some agent has done a runner with my 200 million baht deposit. Shocked Wink Cussing Mr. Green

Baan Sa Suan is an older development, 15+ years at a guess, made up of connected 3 storey town houses, surrounding a large pool, parking is at the front, there is 24 hour security.

It would appear most of the units are held by private individuals, so each is maintained to a different degree. There are a few for sale at the moment around the 8 million mark. I walked around the development last week, there were a lot of western kids riding their bikes around and playing in the pool.

There is a back gate to get to the beach which is across a road and about 500 m further down a narrow access road.

I can imagine the place being over "friendly" whenever there is a holiday weekend or the like due to the proximity of the units to each other.

Appreciate the reply Malcolm.

Happy to buy a few rounds when I'm in town, drop me a PM.

Roppongi

PS Disappointed with the local response. Seems somewhat funny that no guy on the board has heard of these condos next to the Hyatt but can recommend their own swank joint in the hills 10 miles south. Hmmm...

Dear mods: Please don't go down the nanayplaza.com path.

Love to all.

You cant rely on only moderators to provide your answers. I personally know where these condos are but have no experience staying there so didnt feel qualified to cast my opinion on them. To my knowledge none of the moderators do either.

Confused

My apologies as well. I have lived in Hua Hin for more than four years, but the name said nothing to me. I am still not sure which place this is so I cannot give any opinions.

Hi Roppongi,

Guess you made an unfair statement:-

"PS Disappointed with the local response. Seems somewhat funny that no guy on the board has heard of these condos next to the Hyatt but can recommend their own swank joint in the hills 10 miles south. Hmmm... "

I have not step foot onto HuaHin but will be making a trip over next week. Though i would assume that Tokyo is much bigger than HuaHin, but do you know every single corner of Tokyo? Guess nobody in this forum does, unless they are the publisher for their country's road directory...

No offence but just felt that it was kind of blunt in the way you to criticise the moderators.

Cheers

Adrian, yes you're right, Tokyo is a little bigger than HH. Shocked

Nothing personal at all toward you or the mods, but have a glance through the accommodation section of the forum and see for yourself how little response many posts have.

Most good forums have several "anchor" posters who are a wealth of info on the local area. There's plenty of knowlegable posters here so why the reluctance to share info?

Hua Hin ain't that big. Cheers

Anyhow, thanks to the guys who PMed me with some info. thumbs up

This correspondence reminds me of the four years that I lived in Singapore. My friends and colleagues were always asking me for advice about hotels, but since I lived in an apartment (and never in hotels), I was not in a position to give them a useful answer.

Restaurants, bars, shopping, sightseeing, things to do -- I was an expert, but accommodation, not so.

I suspect that many of the moderators may find themselves in a similar position with regard to Hua Hin.

I agree with billseymor. I can't give much advice about hotels, condos, or housing estates here in Hua Hin nor in Bangkok where I lived for almost 13 years simply because I haven't been to these places.

As said above, the anchor posters on this site do not live in hotels so there is no "reluctance" as you put it, just a lack of knowledge about holiday accommodation if anything.

Further example: after less than a year of living at Khao Takiab, my partner and I decided to look elsewhere for two rooms with great security, at the beach. He's Thai, and he found that most of the thousands of condo units are owned and not rented out yearround. We went to the recommended CondoChain, found a great two rooms overlooking the beach, and were ready to pay and get a contract. No, it's only available in low season, not yearround. We rode slowly down Petchakasem, asking local vendors, taxi drivers, security guards, front office clerks, etc., all to no avail. Later that day in a songtaew, we met a farang who's lived here for over four years. He also had no idea where to find a place.

Okay, while I'm at it, is there any place below 20,000 baht, at the beach or within 80 meters of the beach, with two nice rooms for rent all year? I don't expect miracles, but I surely don't know.
